Muizzu: Arabiyya School to commence classes in new building for the upcoming academic year

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced that teaching will commence at the new Al-Madhrasathul Arabiyyathul Islamiyya building for the upcoming academic year. Speaking at a PNC rally in Dh. Meedhoo, he criticized the opposition MDP for allegedly pursuing destructive policies against Arabic and Islamic education. He claimed previous MDP administrations turned students and parents into refugees, while his administration allocated a permanent plot and is constructing a new building. The contract for the new building was initially awarded to Amin Construction on September 29, 2022, under former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration for MVR 168.5 million. The project site was later relocated, and on February 24, 2024, Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu inaugurated physical works. The agreement with Amin Construction was terminated in September after they declined to lower their bid. On November 17, 2024, the project was awarded to Rasheed Carpentry and Construction Private Limited (RCC) for MVR 152,945,200.65 with a 540-day completion deadline.
