Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) President Latheef has been elected Vice President of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) at its General Assembly in Bangkok, Thailand. Latheef, who is also President of the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA), is the first Maldivian on the AVC Executive Committee. He was appointed VAM President in March 2024 after Mohamed Raneysh's resignation. Ramon Suzara of the Philippines was elected AVC President for 2024–2028, while outgoing President Rita Subowo was made Honorary President. Other elected officials include Craig Carracher of Australia as Senior Executive Vice President and Hugh Graham of the Cook Islands as Secretary-General.
