Health Minister Abdulla Khaleel assured that filariasis cases, detected among migrant workers, are under control. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) identified 32 active cases, exclusively among expatriates (30 Indian, 2 Bangladeshi), with 25 in Kulhudhuffushi and 7 in Malé region. The disease was previously eradicated in 2016. HPA expanded screening after WHO advice and established a task force. Medicines were restocked from India. Khaleel noted low transmissibility and no risk of community spread. Infected individuals are from endemic regions in India and Bangladesh.
