IFJ Urges Investigation of Arson Threats Against RaajjeTV, Channel 13

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has called for an investigation into arson threats made against RaajjeTV and Channel 13 via an anonymous Instagram post on 28 April. The threats also targeted Senior Video Journalist Laisa Ahmed. RaajjeTV had requested police protection and investigation, and Channel 13 subsequently received similar threats. The IFJ condemned the threats and urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation. The Maldives Journalist Association (MJA) echoed the call, reminding state actors of their duty to protect journalists. RaajjeTV had previously been set on fire ten years ago during the administration of Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik, after repeated threats were ignored by authorities.
