Maldives Success at IOIG 2023 Celebrated With Grand Homecoming Event

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed hosted a grand homecoming ceremony at Republic Square in Male' to celebrate Maldivian athletes' success at the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) 2023. The contingent won 28 medals (5 gold, 9 silver, 14 bronze), the highest ever for Maldives in a multi-sport event, up from 15 medals in 2019. Two athletes with disabilities also won bronze in the 100m. The event was attended by cabinet ministers, sports officials, MPs, and supporters.
