Transport Ministry Initiates International Driving Licence Programme
The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation initiated an International Driving Licence Training Programme to bring licences up to international standards. Holders of A-Zone permanent licences can sign up via the SIMS portal. The Maldives signed the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic in January, making licences accepted in 99 signatory countries including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, and UAE. The convention was concluded on 8 November 1968 and came into force on 21 May 1977.
