Project to Develop Marina, Three Picnic Islands at Dhiyaneru Launched

A project to develop a marina and three picnic islands at Dhiyaneru lagoon in Kaafu Atoll was launched to address concerns in safari tourism and live-aboard sectors. Dredging work has begun under the supervision of Urbanco and was awarded to Capital Marine and Civil Construction Company. The project is in two phases, involving dredging and reclamation of 24.6 hectares into four islands: one marina island and three picnic islands. The first phase includes a service centre with fuelling, electricity, water, sewerage, and waste management. The marina will accommodate 500 vessels.
