Maldives to Advocate for SIDS, Global Human Rights at 57th UNHRC Session

The Maldives will deliver national statements at the 57th Session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) from 9 September to 11 October, highlighting key policies and priorities. It will also deliver a joint statement on behalf of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) on climate change loss and damage. The session will include a presentation of the country report following the visit by Independent Expert Livingstone Sewanyana. The Maldives will address human rights violations in Myanmar and the humanitarian crisis in Palestine. The delegation will be led by Ambassador Salma Rasheed. The Maldives is a current UNHRC member with a term expiring in 2025.
