Regulations Amended to Allow Unsolicited Proposals for Projects Contributing to Development
The Finance Regulations have been amended to allow private parties to submit unsolicited proposals for projects contributing to development targets, even outside government-designated projects. The Ministry of Finance gazetted the amended rules. Works can be awarded directly after qualification by a financially responsible official to the Minister of Finance. Projects with foreign aid or concessional loans may be entrusted to a presidential appointee. Proposals are submitted to Invest Maldives and evaluated in three stages.
