Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) launched aviation meteorological services at Maafaru International Airport in Noonu Atoll. The new Maafaru Meteorological Office will provide weather support for safe air traffic operations. Island Aviation began construction of a new weather observatory at the airport. The project is part of the Systematic Observations Financing Facility (SOFF) initiative by UNMPTF and WMO, in collaboration with MET Office and UNEP, upgrading existing stations and establishing a new observatory.
