Research into general Maldivian food products to be conducted
Public concerns about rising cancer rates due to chemicals in food have prompted the Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) to plan research on common food items. MFDA's Food and Quality Assurance Coordinator Khalisa Mohamed announced that testing methods are being developed, and a Total Diet Study will be conducted with Maldives National University (MNU). The World Health Organization (WHO) is involved in a proposal, and the Ministry of Finance and Planning is procuring funding. After funding, research will begin.
