President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's administration has launched passport and national ID card services across all atolls, fulfilling a key presidential pledge. The initiative was completed during the President's visit to Alif Dhaalu Atoll, with a ceremony in ADh. Mahibadhoo. Previously, citizens had to travel to Malé for passports. The nationwide rollout began in November 2024. Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan presented a commemorative plaque. President Muizzu stated, "This is a government of action — one that listens to the people and delivers on its word."
