President Muizzu Urges Unified Action on Palestine and Climate Crisis at SIDS Conference
President Mohamed Muizzu addressed the first plenary session of the 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4), urging unified action on the Palestine crisis and climate challenges. He highlighted Israel's defiance of the International Court of Justice's order to cease attacks in Rafah and called for accountability. Muizzu expressed solidarity with Palestine and emphasized the persistent struggles of SIDS, including poverty, climate crisis, and inequality. He advocated for credit enhancement, innovative financing, stronger NDCs, and synergy among UN bodies, development institutions, and private sector. On the sidelines, Muizzu met UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who praised the Maldives' role in climate justice.
