Vice President calls for review of climate change financial assistance framework

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef called for reviewing climate finance frameworks at CHOGM 2024 in Apia, Samoa. He urged a new collective quantified goal exceeding USD 100 billion per year, with sub-goals for loss and damage, mitigation, and adaptation. He stressed modifying international financial architecture for SIDS and called for ambitious NDCs aligned with a 1.5-degree pathway. He praised the Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub for supporting Maldives.
