One alleged to traffic drugs using children released, one remanded
Two suspects, Mohamed Athoof Habeeb (25) and Mohamed Raif Hussain (20), were arrested on June 1st in Villingili for allegedly trafficking drugs using children. A joint operation by Villingili Police and Counter Narcotics Intelligence led to the arrests. Athoof was remanded for 15 days initially and later until trial ends, while Raif was conditionally released. During the operation, four houses were searched, recovering 66.92 grams of drugs (53.91g brown sugar, 13.01g methamphetamine). The operation was conducted under recent amendments to the Drugs Act and the Child Rights Protection Act.
