Minister Zameer Joins Global Leaders in Beijing for AIIB 2025, Promotes Maldives’ Development Vision
Minister Moosa Zameer attended the 10th Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Beijing, promoting Maldives' development vision. Over 3,500 delegates attended. Topics included green finance, regional connectivity, and digital transformation. Zou Jiayi was elected as AIIB's second president and first female leader, with a term beginning January 16, 2026. Zameer met with Sinosure President Sheng Hetai to discuss insurance support for Maldives' reforms. Since 2016, AIIB has grown from 57 to 110 members, deployed over USD 60 billion across 322 projects. Maldives benefited from a USD 15 million Results-Based Loan with a USD 2.74 million grant, and a USD 40 million loan for the Greater Malé Waste-to-Energy project (total USD 151 million).
