MWSC Delivers on President Muizzu’s Water Security Vision with Projects Nationwide

MWSC reported progress on multiple water and sewerage projects nationwide. In Addu City, foundation work is underway for the Water Supply System Upgrade Project in Hulhumeedhoo and Hithadhoo. In N. Magoodhoo, excavation for a water storage tank is ongoing. The Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi Zero-Carbon Desalination Project has its RO plant ready for dispatch. Construction materials have been sent to Sh. Bilehfahi, Sh. Noomaraa, N. Magoodhoo, and N. Miladhoo. These projects support President Muizzu's infrastructure and sustainability agenda.

Over 1,800 banana saplings distributed under ‘Faiykeyo’ programme

Over 1,800 banana saplings were distributed to 11 islands under the 'Faiykeyo' programme. The initiative aims to increase banana production by 50% by end of 2028 and reduce imports by 25%. The first phase distributed saplings and fertiliser to Women's Development Committees. Special areas will be designated for banana cultivation, and tissue culture from Fuvahmulah lab will provide shoots at discounted prices. Training and value-added methods will be introduced.
