MACL’s VIA Modern Terminal Begins Operations with Warm Welcome for Indian Arrivals
Velana International Airport's new passenger terminal began operations with the arrival of Maldivian flight 707 from Cochin, India, carrying 112 passengers. A welcoming ceremony was held, attended by Finance Minister Moosa Zameer, Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen, Tourism Minister Thoriq Ibrahim, MACL officials, and Island Aviation Services representatives. Finance Minister Zameer presented a plaque to Island Aviation. The terminal will be the primary gateway for all airlines, with phased transition expected to complete before the peak tourism season. This aligns with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's vision to boost air transport infrastructure.
