Didi Reverses Course, Says Island Chiefs Were Better Than Councilors

MP Ibrahim Didi (South Feydhoo) stated during a parliamentary sitting that islands benefited more under island chiefs (Katheebun) than current local councils. He criticized councils for failing to perform meaningful work, claiming their role is limited to illegal land distribution. Didi contrasted this with the past when land matters were managed effectively. However, Didi previously advocated for councils when President Muizzu proposed a referendum to separate Feydhoo from Addu City. He cited Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo as an example of successful council-led development.
