President Pledges Salaries, Ramadan Allowance for WDC Members

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced upcoming amendments to the Decentralisation Act to ensure Women's Development Committee (WDC) members receive designated salaries and Ramadan allowance. Currently, WDC members receive only allowances. The amendments will come into effect next year. The President also pledged to address harbour limitations in Dhan'gethi, with development scheduled to start next year and complete by 2026. The harbour is expected to boost local tourism, which aims to increase bed capacity to 600. President Inaugurates Dhan’gethi’s Sewerage System

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated the newly completed sewerage system of Dhan'gethi, Alifu Dhaalu Atoll. The system was funded under a line of credit from India's EXIM Bank as part of a larger initiative to develop water and sewerage systems across 34 islands. It was developed by India's Kalpataru Projects International Limited. Dhan'gethi has 1,140 residents and 18 guesthouses with 280 tourist beds. The new sewerage facility is expected to boost economic activities.
