Dhuvaafaru Councillor Summoned by Police Over Remarks at MDP Rally
Dhuvaafaru Island Councillor Mariyam Yashfa has been summoned by police over a speech she gave during an opposition MDP rally on Tuesday. The summons relates to remarks made at the rally where the song 'Thee Bahuloolekey' was performed, using the term 'Bahulool' (meaning deceiver). This is the first instance under the current government where an individual has been summoned for remarks at a political event. Separately, MDP activist Hussain Shafiu was summoned on 1 December over a social media post.
