Ukraine requests emergency UN Security Council meeting after Russia's attacks

Ukraine has requested an emergency UN Security Council meeting after heavy Russian attacks caused extensive damage, including a strike on the Dormition Cathedral in the Pechersk Lavra monastery complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha initiated responses through OSCE, Council of Europe, and UNESCO. The attacks targeted Kiev, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and other cities, killing civilians and wounding children. Russia claimed the damage was caused by a Ukrainian Patriot missile. At least 5 people were killed and 25 injured.

Russian Missiles Hit Two Buildings in Eastern Ukraine

Russian missile strikes hit two buildings in Dnipro, eastern Ukraine, on Friday evening, leaving at least nine people injured, including two children aged 14 and 17. A large residential tower block and a building belonging to Ukraine's security services (SBU) were damaged. The top floor of the residential building was almost entirely destroyed. President Zelensky condemned the attack as 'Russian missile terror' and convened emergency meetings. Russia claimed its defence forces intercepted two Ukrainian missiles over the Rostov region, with debris injuring 15 people in Taganrog. Russian President Putin stated he is ready for peace negotiations but requires Ukraine to relinquish control of roughly 20% of its territory occupied by Russia.
