Bank of Maldives expands ATM network, making Gaafu Alifu the 10th fully serviced atoll

Bank of Maldives (BML) has expanded its ATM network to Gaafu Alifu Atoll, making it the 10th fully serviced atoll. New Self-Service Banking centers were launched in Kondey and Kanduhulhudhoo. The inauguration was attended by Minister Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, BML Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb, and CEO Mohamed Shareef. The expansion is part of the 'Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM' initiative, aiming to provide banking access to all inhabited islands. BML operates 42 branches, 158 Self-Service Banking Centres, and 217 ATMs across the country.

Government Set to Complete Canned Tuna Distribution by Monday

Tragic Series of Marine Accidents Claims Lives Week Apart

Two fatal marine accidents occurred within a week in the Maldives. A 45-year-old man spearfishing off Gemanafushi, Gaafu Alifu Atoll, was struck by a speedboat late Thursday night and died upon arrival at the island hospital. Ibrahim Sharfaaz of the Gemanafushi Council confirmed the incident. Earlier, Abdul Rasheed Mohamed, 68, from Ihavandhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll, died after a speedboat collided with his dhoani near Huvahandhoo. Three individuals were taken to Ihavandhooo Health Centre. The Maldives Police Service is investigating both incidents, highlighting the need for enhanced maritime safety.
