RACL, Silver Land Hotels Sign MOU to Develop Tourism Zone at Faresmaathoda Airport

Regional Airports Company Ltd. (RACL) and Silver Land Hotels signed an investment MoU to develop a tourism zone at Faresmaathoda Airport, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. The project includes a 100-bed city hotel, expected to create 200 jobs and cost US$20 million. The agreement was signed by RACL's Managing Director Ahmed Mubeen and Silver Land Hotels' Head of Project Management Ibrahim Mohamed. RACL aims to replicate this model in other islands and expedite land registration for other airports.

Infrastructure Ministry Seeks Consultancy for Preliminaries on Thinadhoo-Kaadehdhdhoo Link Project

The Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure is seeking consultants for preliminary surveys, assessments, and a feasibility study for the proposed Thinadhoo-Kaadedhdhoo link project in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. The consultancy period is 45 days. The project may include a bridge, highway, and coastal protection. Deadline for expressions of interest is 31 January 2024. The distance between the islands is 4.4 km. President Muizzu sought investment from China for the project but none expressed interest. An Egyptian company has offered to work on the Addu Hithadhoo-Hulhudhoo connectivity project.
