Nasheed votes in MDP leadership race, cites party activity across Maldives
Former President Mohamed Nasheed cast his vote on Friday in the MDP chairperson election at Galolhu Madharusa. Voting began at 2:30 pm and continues until 8:30 pm. Nasheed said the election process was proceeding smoothly and called on members to participate. He noted that weather had not prevented turnout. Nasheed, contesting under 'Bodu Badhalu', said the MDP had become active across the country during the campaign, with yellow colour, songs, flags, and advocacy visible in all islands. He argued that public confidence in the government had declined, saying 'Dr. Muizzu's government—and first of all Dr. Muizzu himself—has significantly lost popularity.' He added that the MDP would continue holding the government accountable.
