Biss Buru edges closer to Premier League spot with Nasheed's hat-trick

Biss Buru Sports moved closer to securing a Premier League spot after a 6-0 win against GDh. Gaddhoo in the playoff match at Galolhu Stadium. Mohamed Nasheed scored a hat-trick in the first half and added a fourth goal in the second half. Other scorers were Amir Shuaib Al Siddiq Mohamed and Mahmoodh Ashraf Musthafa. Biss Buru has seven points from three matches, tying with TC Sports Club, but leading on goal difference. The top four teams from the playoffs qualify for the 2026/2027 Premier League. Biss Buru and TC need just one point to guarantee a spot. Remaining matches are scheduled through June 25.

Eydhafushi island of Baa Atoll won the Gold Cup 2024 football tournament, defeating Addu City 2-0 in the final at Galolhu Stadium in Male' with over 4,000 spectators. Mohamed 'Faattey' Fasir scored the first goal from a corner kick by Hamza 'Hampu' Mohamed. Ali 'Sentey' Fasir scored the second goal in the 90th minute. The trophy was introduced by legendary Maldives footballer Ali 'Dhagandey' Ashfaq.

Police Launch Investigation Into Football Match Violence

The Maldives Police Service has launched an investigation into disturbances during a second division quarter-final football match at Galolhu Stadium. The incident involved supporters of Kuda Henveiru who invaded the pitch after a controversial foul, attacking Victory Sports Club players and coach Sobah Mohamed. The match, which Victory led 3-1, was abandoned. No arrests have been made yet.
