Government Disburses MVR 46 Million for Giraavaru Falhu Land Reclamation

The Mohamed Muizzu administration disbursed MVR 46 million to Capital Marine and Civil Construction (CMCC) for the Giraavaru Falhu land reclamation project under the Binveriya housing scheme. The project, initiated under former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, aims to address the housing crisis in Greater Malé. CMCC, in collaboration with Boskalis, has completed two of three phases, with the final phase to reclaim 90 hectares. Satellite images show about 80% completion. Separately, the Muizzu administration's Rasmalé project at Fushidhiggaru Falhu saw only 3% reclamation in seven months against an eight-month promise, and CMCC's contract was terminated due to financing issues.
