Israel strips Palestinians of municipal powers in Hebron granted under Oslo-era deal

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced revocation of Hebron municipality's civil planning and construction powers in areas covered by the 1997 Hebron Agreement. The move transfers authority over the Ibrahimi Mosque to an Israeli committee. The Palestinian Authority condemned it as a violation of agreements and international law. Hebron Mayor Yusuf al-Jabari called for international intervention.
