The 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami caused severe damage. The project is part of broader VIA expansion.

MACL Contracts RDC for Repair and Maintenance of Hulhulé Island Roads

Record Rainfall in Malé Region Causes Flooding, Disruptions and Displacements
