Falah Vows 80% Win for PNC in 2026 Councils, Slams MDP’s ‘Bribery Politics’
PNC parliamentary group leader and Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah declared that PNC will win 80% of council seats in the 2026 local elections. During a debate on amendments to the Decentralization Act, he accused the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) of offering money to councils to oppose the bill. The amendments, introduced by MP Ahmed Eeshaan and seconded by Hassan Waheed, aim to prevent last-minute hiring, leasing, and ensure financial transparency. Only MP Mohamed Nashid voted against in committee.
