Promising Sprinter Ru’ya Ali Shatters National Record at JAAA All Comers Meet

Mariyam Ru'ya Ali broke the national record in the women's 100-metre sprint at the JAAA All Comers Meet in Jamaica, with a time of 12.02 seconds, surpassing Aishath Himna Hassan's record of 12.17 seconds. Earlier, Ali had broken the junior record in April. Mohamed Minhal Shamin set a new men's junior 100m record of 10.73 seconds, and Ziva Moosa Shafeeu set a new women's junior 200m record of 25.60 seconds.

Mariyam Ru’ya Ali Sets New National Record in Junior 200 Metre Sprint

Young Maldivian sprinter Mariyam Ru'ya Ali broke her own junior national record in the 200-meter sprint at the MVP Velocity Fest 14 in Kingston, Jamaica, clocking 25.11 seconds. She is training in Jamaica on a sports scholarship from the Bank of Maldives (BML). Previously, she had set records in the 60m and 100m sprints. Another Maldivian athlete, Mohamed Minhal Shamin, also improved his personal best in the 200m.
