Archaeologists uncovered 476,000-year-old wooden logs in Zambia, suggesting early humans built structures. The discovery challenges the view that they were simple nomads. The logs show tool marks and deliberate shaping, indicating sophisticated construction. The research project 'Deep Roots of Humanity' was led by Professor Larry Barham of University of Liverpool. The wood was preserved in waterlogged conditions near Kalambo Falls.
