Maldivian Expands Flight Operations, Fleet Amid School Holidays
Maldivian, the national flag carrier of the Maldives, has expanded flight operations to Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi in India, and added an extra flight to Funadhoo Airport, coinciding with school holidays. The airline announced additional flights on specific dates in May and June. Island Aviation Services Ltd (IASL), the operator of Maldivian, is also expanding its fleet with the imminent arrival of a new ATR42 aircraft. Maldivian plans to dry-lease an Airbus A330-200 for five years and a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner for six years to boost international operations, with wide-body aircraft expected to commence in late October or early November, according to Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen.
