Fenaka Awarded Water and Sewerage Project for Kolhufushi Housing Units

The Ministry of Tourism and Environment awarded Fenaka Corporation Limited a USD 738,000 project to develop water and sewerage systems for 100 housing units in Kolhufushi, Meemu Atoll, to be completed in five months. The housing units were completed in January 2025 but lacked utility infrastructure. The homes were built under a social housing initiative, representing the first row houses on privately owned land under a state-led programme. Each unit is 1,200 sq ft with three bedrooms. Total government investment in construction was USD 7.83 million.

Multiple Development Projects Completed in Meemu Atoll

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih marked the completion of various development projects in Meemu Atoll, including new health centre wings, powerhouses, water supply networks, and coastal protection. Projects were inaugurated on six islands: Mulah, Dhiggaru, Raiymandhoo, Kolhufushi, Muli, and Naalaafushi. The water supply networks were funded by Indian Exim Bank's US$800 million line of credit, and coastal protection was financed through the Green Fund.
