Fishermen’s Protests Over Unpaid Dues Spread to Kudahuvadhoo

Fishermen in Kudahuvadhoo Island, Dhaalu Atoll, have protested demanding payment of overdue dues from the government and MIFCO. Similar protests began in Addu City earlier, with fishermen unpaid for over 80 days. Protests escalated with families joining in Hulhumeedhoo Island, leading to suspension of MIFCO's factory. Opposition MDP introduced an emergency motion in parliament demanding payment and no police interference. The government released MVR 46 million of MVR 80 million owed before Eid.
