Air Service World Congress 2024 Concludes in Maldives

The seventh Air Service World Congress (ASWC) 2024 concluded in the Maldives, hosted for the first time by Maldives Airports Company Ltd. (MACL). The event brought together over 150 delegates from 27 airlines and 17 airports. Panels were held at Kurumba Maldives, with a welcome ceremony at Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa and networking at SAii Lagoon Maldives. MACL shared insights on the Maldives aviation sector and plans for further development. The congress received endorsements from the Tourism Ministry, Transport Ministry, MATI, and MATATO.

MU Manik Receives SATA Service Award

The South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) honoured veteran hotelier Mohamed Umar 'MU' Manik with a special service award for his contributions to Maldives tourism. Manik is a co-founder of Kurumba Maldives, the first resort in the country. The award was presented at a special ceremony at Kurumba Maldives on Thursday, as Manik could not attend the main SATA ceremony in Bangalore in October. Manik expressed pleasure at the recognition and noted the 51-year-old tourism industry's growth. Maldivian properties won 31 awards at SATA, including 14 gold and 17 silver. The awards are in their seventh year, with six South Asian countries competing.
