Mariyam Ru’ya Ali to Represent Maldives at World Athletics U20 Championship

Sprinter Mariyam Ru'ya Ali has been selected to represent the Maldives at the World Athletics U20 Championship in Lima, Peru, from 27 to 31 August. She is the fastest Maldivian athlete in her age category and holds a sports scholarship from Bank of Maldives. She trained in Jamaica and made history as the first Maldivian woman to run 100m under 12 seconds (11.87 seconds). She also set a national record in the 200m (25.11 seconds) in 2023. She previously represented Maldives at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
