Apartment Fire in Malé Leaves One in Intensive Care
A severe fire at an apartment building in Maafannu District, Malé, left one person in intensive care. The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) reported five people taken to the hospital. The Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) confirmed one in ICU, four in emergency room, suffering from smoke inhalation. The fire occurred on Thursday afternoon and was contained by MNDF, preventing spread. The third-floor apartment was extensively damaged. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) arranged emergency shelter for the four residents, who will receive housing support for 15 days.
