Finance Minister summoned over dismissal of MDP supporters
Finance Minister Hassan Zareer has been summoned to the People's Majlis over allegations that supporters of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) are being unfairly dismissed from state-owned enterprises. The motion was submitted by MP Mohamed Ibrahim (Kudoo). Allegations include disciplinary actions against employees who participated in MDP's internal elections and by-election activities. Abdulla Sodiq (Sobe) stated that 10 individuals involved in the North Hithadhoo campaign have been dismissed. Seven employees from MIFCO were suspended for welcoming former President Mohamed Nasheed. The MDP National Congress passed a resolution to launch nationwide protests.
