Aishath Ulya Shaig Breaks National Record Again
Maldivian swimmer Aishath Ulya Shaig broke her short-course 50m freestyle national record for the second time in a month. Competing at the West Coast Club Night #07 meet hosted by the University of Western Australia, she finished in 28.75 seconds. Her previous record of 28.81 seconds was set in June at the Breakers Big Splash meet in Australia. Before Shaig, the record belonged to Aminath Sajan (29.81 seconds) since the 2016 FINA World Championships. Shaig will represent the Maldives at the 2024 Paris Olympics (26 July-11 August), alongside Mohamed Aan Hussain, after the Swimming Association of Maldives received two universal swimming places.
