The Criminal Court cleared Sun Construction and Sun Investment of all money laundering charges related to the leasing of R. Fuggiri island. The companies, owned by MDA leader and MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, were accused in the MMPRC scandal but the court found no wrongdoing. Financial experts noted that Sun's companies generate over $200 million annually, making the alleged $1.1 million illicit gain illogical. The acquittal was delivered last month. The case was seen as politically motivated.
