Massive explosion at Qatar industrial plant leaves 54 injured,18 missing
A massive explosion caused by a technical incident struck a factory in Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City, leaving 54 injured and 18 missing. Civil defence teams responded. State-owned QatarEnergy said the incident occurred during start-up at the Barzan local gas supply facility. The fire was contained. Ras Laffan had already been damaged in the recent US-Israel-Iran war, forcing Qatar to halt gas production. Drone strikes on 2 March and 18 March damaged facilities, with expected 17% cut in LNG export capacity and three to five years to repair.
