Over 50,000 apply for government's 'Housing for All' scheme
Over 50,000 applications were submitted for the 'Housing for All' scheme. The initiative attracted 58,505 applications: 35,930 for flats and 22,575 for plots. The 'Family Housing' programme received 45,644 applications; 'Goathigedhoru' received 12,861. The scheme distributes 15,000 plots across Greater Malé and Rasamalé, and 7,900 flats in Malé. Deadlines were extended due to technical difficulties. The ministry amended guidelines to broaden accessibility. Bank of Maldives has commenced construction in Hulhumalé and Villimalé, and procurement for affordable housing developers has begun.
