Maldivian Scouts Among Those Relocated Amid Typhoon Fears

Maldivian scouts at the 25th World Scout Jamboree in Saemangeum, South Korea, have been relocated to Seoul before Typhoon Khanun's expected landfall. The 200-strong contingent is part of 36,000 scouts from 156 countries. The jamboree had already been plagued by a heat wave with over 400 heat-related illnesses. Activities will continue until August 12, 2023.

Maldives Contingent Prepares for World Scout Jamboree 2023

A Maldivian contingent is preparing for the World Scout Jamboree 2023 in SaeManGeum, Republic of Korea, from 1 to 12 August. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, as Chief Scout, met with the contingent and advised them to uphold national dignity. The jamboree theme is 'Draw your Dream'. The Korean Scout Association hosts for the second time. A Maldivian scout, Ali Shafa'ath Manik, is on the planning team. Scouting in Maldives began in 1956.
