Samsung Electronics Union Plans Walkout Over Wage Dispute
Samsung Electronics' union in South Korea, the National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU), announced a one-day walkout on 7 June, the first in the company's history, over wage disputes. The union represents ~28,000 members (over one-fifth of workforce). Demands include a wage increase beyond the 5.1% hike, an extra day of annual leave, and transparent bonuses. Samsung stated it will engage sincerely in discussions. The strike comes amid Samsung's semiconductor business challenges and leadership changes. Shares fell 3.1% on the announcement.
