Pres. Solih Inaugurates Gaafu Alifu, Gaafu Dhaalu RTL Routes

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service connecting 21 islands of Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu atolls. The ceremony was held at Thinadhoo Island, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. The service, part of the Integrated National Public Ferry Network project, began operations last month. Nine speedboats operated by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) currently run six routes, with plans to increase. Travel times between the two atolls have been reduced from five to two hours, with ferries running seven days a week. The service was initially launched in May of the previous year and is set to expand to all atolls next year.
