National Day celebrations shine with historic inaugurations in Utheem
During National Day celebrations in Utheem, Haa Alif Atoll, President Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated the Utheem Elders' Square and planted coconut palm trees with First Lady Sajidha Mohamed in memory of national hero Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaanu. Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim laid the foundation stone for the Boduthakurufaanu Gateway, a landmark project designed to embody Maldivian history. The gateway features six pillars symbolizing the six heroes of Kalahuohfunmee who fought for independence, with six lights representing their sacrifice. The event was attended by Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, Speaker Mohamed Aslam, Chief Justice Ahmed Muthasim Adnan, and other senior officials.
