Across China: SW China’s pumpkins go global, boosting rural export
A farmer in Guizhou, China, harvested over 700 tonnes of pumpkins in 2024, processed into dehydrated strips and exported to South Korea. The contract-based farming model with Nongyao Agricultural Development Co. ensures stable supply. Zhijin County's exports surged 345% in 2024 to 23.16 million yuan. The company has signed contracts for 2025 to export to ROK, Thailand, UAE, Indonesia, etc. Guizhou plans to expand pumpkin cultivation to 13,000 hectares in 2025.
