‘Moodhu Fest 2026’ launched to mark World Oceans Day
The Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources, in collaboration with Housing Development Corporation (HDC), launched 'Moodhu Fest 2026' to mark World Oceans Day. Minister Ahmed Shiyam inaugurated the event, emphasizing the ocean's connection to Maldivian culture and the shared responsibility to protect marine resources. State Minister Aminath Hussain Shareef said the event has two sessions: a Discover Dive programme for children with coral planting, and water sports activities with stalls. A nationwide reef fishing competition was also held on 19 June.
