Majority of Teachers Believe Students Are Using AI for Work, Study Finds

A study by education tech firm RM Technology found that a majority of teachers believe students are using AI to complete assignments. The survey of 500 secondary school teachers revealed that two-thirds think students frequently submit AI-written work, and 9% cannot distinguish between AI and student work. 41% of teachers want better regulation, and 31% believe government intervention is needed. Mel Parker, a former headteacher and consultant for RM Technology, called for government regulation. Digital safeguarding consultant Charlotte Ainsley also urged regulation. Meanwhile, a separate student survey showed 68% think AI helps their grades, and 49% think excluding AI would be negative. The UK government acknowledged AI's potential and is working on a regulatory framework.
